Map 242 No 1 Cubes of the Water Element

This is the number one cube showing its face and its rear view. Now we need to find out the relationships between the numbers and the positions they are in.

Lets look at the left hand side first. This is the Feng Shui Nine Star Ki for the number 1. So on all 6 faces on this cube number 1 can be found at the centre. Or alternatively you can consider the centre to be completely empty. If it were a water feature you could make it into a fountain with water spurting from the 6 points at the centres of the cube.

So if I give you a cube with just the numbers on one face and you want to find the easiest way to  fill in the other 5 faces here are some clues for the format.

First of all you can put the other 5 number 1's  at the centre points. You know that the top face has 957 running along its edge because it is part of the brick of the front face. The rear bottom has 462 running along it because it matches the base of the original face of the cube. 489 runs up the inside of the LH side of the rear matching again to the face cubes. 732 runs down the LHS of the second face of the cube as it is cornered with the face.

Now we look to the corners for help. The top corner of the face cube has 3 number 7's there. This is repeated in the bottom corner of the rear cube. The position of 4 in the  bottom LH corner of the face is repeated in the top RH corner of the face of the cube which in turn fills in the cube in the top RH corner of the rear cube as it is a corner of the cube. The No 2 in the bottom RH side of the face repeats in the top LH corner of the face which includes two corners of the rear as it is part of the cube.  Top RH side has 9 in the corner this matches to its opposite corner in the bottom RHS of the face and the bottom of the base of the rear cube.

Looking at the face we can see number six is in the north position.  The North face position always matches itself to the right hand side face in the South which in turn gives us another number for the top of the face. The East portion has 8 in it and the East always matches up to the North on the second face of the cube, which adds another to the rear bottom.

Now we have a full face and only one number missing from the RH side face number 5 so we can now add that and we have two full faces.

Top is missing two numbers 3 and 8 if we look to the top LH side we can see only 3 can go there or the rear view we cannot see would have two 8's. So 3 it is and thus the remaining 8 goes into the empty space. The third full face.

Now that we have filled the face we shall look to the rear and what is still missing. The top LHS of the rear has two numbers missing 5 & 6. The RHS rear face has two numbers missing 3 and 6. So left and right have 6 missing that tells us that the 6 must go on line two. This leaves only number 5 to be slotted in and another face is complete. This gives us the last rear base missing one number the 3 which we can lock into place and the cube is complete.

The same rules apply to all the cubes from 1 to 9 inclusive. See if you can work them out yourself before using the format and enjoy yourself.
Template for all 9 numbers for you to make into cubes.
So next time you see a nine star map see them in 3D

Now imagine the centres are empty and the numbers are just round holes and you are poking sticks into the round holes to come out where it is matching up. It looks like a sputnik but would be perfect for trajectory work if I worked for CSI.

Did I just invent another game.....oh no its kerplunk ! I shall keep chipping away I must have an original idea eventually. Have fun with this it's great on a train journey. See map 241 for more information.
